University Library Move - Cheshire
100+ crates, every book back in shelf order
A university library was moving its collection within the same building. Every book had to come off the shelves and go back in exactly the same order, so students and staff could find everything the day it reopened.
The Challenge
Shelf order was everything. One crate out of sequence means hours of re-shelving for library staff, and across more than 100 crates there's no room for guesswork.
The Approach
Working alongside the main contractor, we packed each run of shelving into numbered crates in strict sequence, with marked shelf ends so every run could be traced from start to finish.
We staged the crates down the aisles in order, moved them, and unpacked them back onto the shelves in the same order they came off.
The Result
Finished on time, with every book back where it belonged and no re-shelving needed afterwards. The client was happy with the job.
